Elks are very resistant animals that have an excellent sense of smell that can attract stalkers very quickly. Elks are large, deer like animals that have long, mangy hair on their neck. The head, neck, legs, and stomach tend to have a brownish to an almost black color to it. The antlers that extend from high above his head are often armed with six points on them. Weighing on average to about 275 kilograms, this animal is a force that should be reckoned with when elk hunting.
Elk Hunting around the Mountains
In order to go elk hunting, hunters need to know places where the elk can be found. Elk hunting is most commonly found close to mountainous regions. The elk that are still free ranging can usually be found on or around the Guadalupe Mountains. The total population of the elk is thought to be around 1,300.
